Designer Profile - Lisa LaPorta

I am an HGTV junkie and one of my favorite shows is Designed to Sell.  There are several versions of the show with different hosts and designer combos and I definitely gravitate towards a couple of those combos.  One of my favorite duos is Lisa LaPorta and Clive Pearse.  I like Clive simply because he’s a Brit and I have a crush on all things British.  Lisa I like because she is pragmatic and to the point all while being incredibly charming.  She’s also an architect and I see her architectural point-of-view in her design solutions and advice to homeowners and I really appreciate that.  So it goes without saying that I and the Home Infatuation team were very excited to bump into Lisa at the Causal Living show in Chicago and to get a chance to talk about her latest endeavor in outdoor living.

Lisa LaPortaLisa is working with one of our vendors, Jordan Manufacturing Company, to design and develop a line of outdoor furnishings. What we saw we really liked.  Her outdoor furniture line is a modern take on classic outdoor furnishing designs.  The upholstery and outdoor pillows showcase elegant and rich color combinations that hint at tradition yet read as fun and modern.  In fact Lisa’s line is much like her.  To the point, well designed and fun.

Lisa believes that because of programming like HGTV consumers are sophisticated about their design choices and purchases.  She wanted to be able to bring a product to market that matched consumers' level of expectation yet at a price point that doesn’t deny them access.  Lisa and Jordan just started promoting her line so we aren’t sure where it might show up for sale.  We’ll keep you posted.
