Get The Look - Privacy

Photo Inspiration - Insite InteriorsWe feel this outdoor space incorporates several of the examples of how to create privacy without sacrificing good design that Eric King mentioned in his interview in the Designing for Outdoor Privacy post. On the perimeter of this patio a fireplace, shrubbery and treillage are used to screen the outside views as Eric suggested. The curtains were used to create an even more intimate and private setting on the interior of the outdoor space.

The origins of treillage can be traced back to the 12th century, when countryside gardeners took to creating wooden structures, called treille, to support their climbing vines. But it wasn’t until the 17th century that the art of treillage reach new heights of popularity when King Louis XIV had the world famous French garden at Versailles constructed.
