Last fall I moved into a house in a cute post war Cape Cod style neighborhood. This winter I've been spending my time studying Cape Cod style outdoor spaces as I dream up a design for my outdoor space come this spring. Here are some exceptional spaces in the Cape Cod style through the eyes of two designers.
The covered terrace, in my mind, is yet another distinction in outdoor spaces. Elevated but not a balcony as it does not project from the wall of the house or building. Open on more sides than a loggia but not a porch as they have no outside access. A terrace is a platform extending from the floor of a house or building and it is often not covered but this week I sought out the comfort of covered terraces.
With the vast selection of outdoor rug designs on the market these days it is easy to create an outdoor space with a show stopping rug as the focal point of your design.
